Fred and Luke is a short independent film made with light, love, unscripted dialogue and unique storytelling. Two single parents find a connection in a chance meeting. It begins with lives that have fallen apart. Fred, recently of Berlin, has lost her husband and is now quietly raising her son. On what appears to be just another day, there’s knock on her door. Will she take the risk and open the door? Luke, an all around handyman, on the other side of that door, is about to find out. Come see how thanks to the unscripted dialogue, the actors and director of this independent film created their storytelling together. It was truly a collaborative effort. As a result of their innate chemistry, the attraction is palpable.

I’ve never been gifted the opportunity to co-create with my daughter before. Unexpectedly, and during lockdown, this arrived and opened up something that will endure for the rest of her life. The Second Box, which is a one man, and one young woman film, had the privilege of closing the New Harmony Sunrise Film Festival last December 10th. I am grateful.
